Best of the Web may be a deal for a bit.  This large site submission service is currently offering their year long rate at a discount. You can submit a site to their directory for $149 for a year. The site directory gets good results, even in the current market of change with the Google metrix.

A site submission to various directories is a way to make it easier for people to find your website. In essence, the search data that Google, Bing, or Yahoo present is a directory of what they feel are the most current, relevant sites to offer you content based on your search criterion.  The problem is, that query is not always what you need. I recently did a search for “city utilities Hot Springs Arkansas” and Google returned the Hot Springs Spa Company as my most relevant option to find data.

Instead of trying to crawl the whole width and expanse of the Internet Universe, site directories often narrow their information to just a few topics,and then they really try to give you better content. They can also be choosy on who they add to their directory.
